Kim Jong Un is said to have put a North Korean city, Hyesan, with a population of over 200,000 people on lockdown until 653 bullets can be found. According to Radio Free Asia, the bullets went missing during a military pullout, and Kim Jong-Un directed authorities to scour the city for them.
According to the people who spoke to Radio Free Asia, a resident of Ryanggang, where Hyesan is located, said, “The city… will remain on lockdown until all 653 bullets are recovered.”
The allegation went on to state that the ammunition for assault rifles vanished on March 7. “They withdrew completely between February 25 and March 10, but an extensive investigation is underway because of a loss of bullets during the evacuation process,” the report added quoting sources who said that “during the withdrawal when the soldiers realized they had lost the bullets, they tried to find it themselves instead of reporting it.”
But, when the soldiers realized they were unable to locate the bullets on their own, they informed the authorities of the situation, which led to the city being placed under lockdown. People are monitoring the probe attentively because the tragedy occurred amid a difficult era.
“Last week, orders were issued to factories, farms, social groups, and neighborhood watch units in the province to actively cooperate with the ammunition-related investigation,” the report said adding that authorities were “lying to spread fear among residents”.
“They tried to put pressure on the residents by bluffing that the withdrawal was a maneuver related to the safety of Kim Jong Un from reactionary forces,” the report said.
