Amber Heard has fired her PR team amidst the ongoing defamation case against ex-husband Johnny Depp. During the current trial coverage, the actress fired her PR firm due to recent “bad headlines” surrounding her. Heard was getting irritated with the coverage she’s been getting since the defamation trial began, according to a source who spoke to the New York Post. Another source explained that Heard was not happy about her negative media portrayal.
Johnny Depp has filed a $50 million lawsuit against Amber. Thereby, alleging that her article about surviving domestic abuse in 2018 defamed him. Furthermore, he claimed that it ruined his career and reputation in the film industry. Johnny lost the lead role in the Fantastic Beasts series owing to the word spread around about domestic violence. Amber’s lawyers argue that it isn’t defamation because Amber didn’t mention Johnny in the post. She wrote it for the greater good.
Amber Heard hires Shane Communication for her PR
Depp has already given the testimony. He addressed several points including drug abuse, going through domestic violence, facing rejection in Pirates of the Caribbean’s sixth installment, etc. Amber Heard will take the stand anytime soon. Heard has now hired Hollywood consulting firm Shane Communications. The business is managed by PR veteran David Shane. But insiders told the Post that Heard will struggle to change the bad narrative about her that has already been built.
“After years of narrative building, you can’t change the public’s opinion in the three weeks when someone is suing you in a case,” said the source. The couple tied a knot in 2015. In 2016, they decided to separate their ways.
