The German police have a new investigation at hand. A nurse in northern Germany’s Red Cross injected people with saline solution instead of COVID-19 vaccines. The authorities now have to get people to take another shot of the vaccine.

The shocking case of replacing COVID-19 vaccines with saline

The nurse is suspected of injecting people with saline instead of the COVID-19 vaccine in Friesland, a rural district near Germany’s North sea coast. “I am totally shocked by this episode,” stated Sven Ambrosy, a local councilor on Facebook. After all, the authorities had to issue recalls for over 8,600 residents in the region.

Additionally, as per Peter Beer, the police investigator investigating the case suspects a lot of danger based on witness statements. The motive and details of the nurse are currently not clear, at least for the public. However, we know that she shared her skeptical views about vaccines on her social media. Additionally, details regarding her arrest are also not public, after handing it to a special unit that investigates motivated crimes.

Is injecting people with saline dangerous?

Well, injecting saline solution is not harmful. However, people inspect that the switch took place as early as March and April 2021. Hence, the number of people at risk of catching the virus is very high.

Moreover, this is not the first time such an incident took place. Earlier this year, an Italian woman got six doses of the Pfizer vaccine due to a distracted nurse. Since she got a very high dose of the vaccine, she was under close observation at a hospital in Tuscany. Luckily, she did not have any adverse reactions according to the health authorities.
