Long Tweets with up to 4,000 characters are now a reality with Twitter Blue

For those longing for longer tweets, a Twitter Blue subscription can make this a reality. Subscribers can now use as many as 4,000 characters.

Long Tweets are now a reality

Twitter Blue subscribers in the US can now post lengthy tweets with up to 4,000 characters. In the platform’s main feed, they will appear at standard length. However, clicking ‘Show more…’, will allow users to read the entire content. “Need more than 280 characters to express yourself? We know that lots of you do… and while we love a good thread, sometimes you just want to Tweet everything all at once. We get that. So we’re introducing longer Tweets! Starting today, if you’re subscribed to Twitter Blue in the US you can create longer Tweets,” shared Twitter.

“While only Blue subscribers can post longer messages, anyone and everyone can read them. you can reply to, retweet, and quote Tweet a longer Tweet, no matter if you’re a Twitter Blue subscriber or not. subscribers will be able to reply and QT with up to 4,000 characters,” it explained.

More on the new feature

The introduction of long tweets will now allow subscribers to post without creating threads. However, non-Blue users of the platform will continue with the previous format and usage of Twitter threads. Unfortunately, this may make it confusing and messy. The organization is also reducing ads by half for its subscribers. Previously, Twitter allowed its Blue subscribers to share 60-minute-long videos.

Following the announcement, Twitter received mixed responses. Some users called posting a “4,000 characters tweet,” a crime. However, many others are questioning the platform’s idea of brevity. “If someone wanted a 4,000–character tweet, they should just start a personal blog. The entire point of Twitter is brevity,” said one user. Another user compared them with speeches. (www.sapns2.com)
