So far, ChatGPT’s major limitation has been its inability to browse the internet or draw information in real-time. All of the information retrieved and shown by ChatGPT was only available before September 2021. That is changing now! ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise subscribers can begin asking inquiries regarding ongoing events immediately. “Today, browsing is available to Plus and Enterprise users, and we plan to expand to all users soon. “To enable, pick Browse with Bing in the GPT-4 selection,” OpenAI posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Free users still cannot use ChatGPT in real-time
This follows the announcement earlier this week of a big update that would allow users to have audio chats with the chatbot. Users would also be able to interact with ChatGPT through photos. According to OpenAI, different websites can also regulate what information is visible to ChatGPT. Previously, OpenAI tried a tool that allowed users to get real-time information via the Bing search engine, but it was later deactivated due to concerns that it could allow users to circumvent paywalls.
Free users still cannot use ChatGPT in real-time, so expect the following message for some more time – “I’m sorry, but I cannot access the internet or retrieve real-time information. My knowledge is based on the text and data that were available up to my last update in September 2021.” OpenAI promises that users will be able to see the sources of responses, which the business has yet to achieve. If you see ChatGPT Plus or Enterprise versions, simply select “Browse with Bing” from the top panel.
