Twitter/X could soon become paid-only platform

During a recent conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Elon Musk discussed the concept of turning X, formerly Twitter, into a subscription-based platform.

“[We’re] moving to a small monthly payment for use of the X system,” Musk told Netanyahu.

He discussed the idea of charging a small monthly charge to utilize the X system to combat bots.

Musk did not say when or how much this upgrade would cost. He mentioned that X presently has 550 million monthly active users and 100-200 million daily postings.

Elon Musk has previously discussed putting Twitter behind a paywall, citing a 50% decline in advertising revenue since acquiring the firm.

“We are still negative cash flow, due to ~50 percent drop in advertising revenue plus heavy debt load,” Musk posted on X in July.

Currently, X’s subscription program, renamed X Blue, starts at $8 per month and includes a variety of features such as verified status and extended post-editing.

Musk acquired control of Twitter in October 2022, fired its senior management, and ordered substantial layoffs.

While Linda Yaccarino has been named CEO, Musk remains in charge of the X.

Erdogan’s meeting with Elon Musk

Meanwhile, Elon Musk met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Manhattan to discuss the prospect of creating Tesla’s seventh factory in Turkey, reinvigorating Musk’s prominence in the global news cycle.

Elon Musk attended the conference with his son, Lil X, resulting in beautiful images and videos.

Erdogan questioned about Musk’s wife during their open talk, to which Musk replied that they were divorced and that he was now caring for their son.

Turkish Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, who attended the meeting, claimed Musk classified Turkey as “among the most important candidates for Tesla investment.”

Musk and Erdogan also addressed Turkey’s armed aerial drone program, according to him.
