Fans of Game of Thrones will be able to explore the land of Westeros at a £40 million attraction that will feature sets, costumes, and artifacts from the hit HBO series. Linen Mill was one of the show’s filming locations in Northern Ireland. It will host the Game of Thrones Studio Tour later this year. Since the end of filming in 2018, the sets for the Great Hall of Winterfell and Castle Black have remained there.
For the 110,000-square-foot spectacle, other sets have been renovated and iconic props such as the Iron Throne have been included. Before the outbreak, Game of Thrones tourism was thriving in Northern Ireland. One out of every six leisure visitors acknowledging the show influenced their judgment to visit in 2018. According to Tourism NI, this amounted to about 350,000 people spending £50 million in the local economy. Stormont Economy Minister Gordon Lyons has acclaimed the venue on the outskirts of Banbridge in Co Down as “game-changing” for the region.
