Finnish PM Sanna Marin faced backlash after a video of her night out leaked. Backing the PM, women across the world share videos of themself dancing and partying.
PM Sanna Marin takes a drug test
Women around the world are sharing clips of themselves dancing on social media platforms as a gesture of supporting Finland’s PM. PM Sanna Marin made headlines after footage of her dancing and partying leaked online. The videos are taken as she was dancing in a private apartment and at a nightclub in Helsinki. She had to address concerns after someone in one of the clips screamed ‘flour gang’. The term is a Finnish slang word for cocaine.
In a press conference outside her official residence, she stated she has never taken drugs. She added that she did not see anyone consuming them on the nights the videos were filmed. Since then, she has taken a drug test to clear her name. She also denied doing anything inappropriate after another video emerged of her dancing with Olavi Uusivirta, a Finnish pop star. The 28-year-old star and the PM were dancing in Klubi nightclub at 4 am. Additionally, she insisted she had not consumed excess alcohol and woke up without a hangover. She also stated she has the same right as everyone to have a ‘fun and relaxed evening out’.
Women across offer solidarity

In solidarity, women across Finland and the world are also supporting the Finnish PM by filming themselves or with their friends, dancing wildly. “We at ALT for the ladies. And no, you don’t become a worse prime minister, director, school teacher…put in a job yourself…by firing it up on the dance floor at the weekend,” stated the Danish Magazine Alt. They also shared clips of several women celebrating either at home or by clubbing.
The video was leaked from a friend’s private account. Finnish media reports suggest the account belongs to Janita Auto, a Helsinki-based photographer. While she did not directly confirm the private account was hers, she shared a message on her public account. “I’m shocked at the commotion we’ve gotten ourselves into. It was a harmless evening where people danced and had fun, one of the funniest evenings of the summer, which has taken on unreasonable proportions in the aftertaste,” said the photographer. Additionally, “the videos have been filmed in private spaces and all parties have been aware of the filing of the videos and their publication on a private account. I will not comment further on this matter. I hope that people can continue to enjoy life, summer, dancing, and the company of friends,” she added.
