Woman cuts rope, leaves painters hanging from 26th floor of high-rise building in Thailand

In a tragic incident that happened in Thailand, a woman cuts rope holding painters 26 floors high. Police said on Wednesday that the woman was evidently upset that she hadn’t been notified they would be doing work and left them hanging over the 26th floor until a couple rescued them.

The woman is facing attempted murder and property destruction charges, chief of the Pak Kret police station informed The Associated Press. The chief did not disclose what caused the suspect to cut the rope. Thai media says that the woman was obviously irritated when employees showed outside her door. She hadn’t seen a notification by the condo about the work on Oct. 12

This incident is shocking and should not happen at all

A video clip on social media shows two painters asking the residents on the 26th floor to open the window and let them in. One of the painters, Song, informed the Thai media about him and his two friends. He says they were lowering themselves from the 32nd floor to repair a crack on the building. On reaching the 30th floor, the rope felt heavier. When they checked, they found someone on the 21st floor opening a window and cutting his rope.

The third colleague was continuously supporting them from the top floor, says Praphaiwan Setting. She is the resident who saved them. “This incident is shocking and should not happen at all,” she says. The condo’s management followed the painters to the police station to report the incident. The 34-year-old woman first denied responsibility, but authorities submitted the severed rope for fingerprint and DNA analysis, according to media reports.

He stated that the police will submit an indictment in provincial court within 15 days. If she is found guilty of attempted murder, she could face a sentence of up to 20 years in jail.
