Who were Cody Allen and Drexel Mack? Police officer and process server killed during eviction turned shooting in Independence

Cody Allen, a police officer, and Drexel Mack, a court employee, were identified as the victims of the deadly shooting in Independence that involved multiple officials.

Adam Dustman, Chief of Police for the Independence Police Department, confirmed in a press conference that Officer Cody Allen was shot and killed on Thursday.

“I do not want it to be lost on anyone that Officer Allen is a hero,”  Police Chief Dustman stated.

Officer Allen was 35 years old when he was killed in the line of duty. The officer is survived by his wife and two small children.

“We’re broken,” Chief Dustman explained.

Meanwhile, Drexel Mack, an employee of a local court, served as the civil process server. According to Police Chief Dustman, Officer Allen died in the line of duty while attempting to aid Mack, who had been shot.

Officer Allen, who had been with the Independence Police Department for two years and in law enforcement for much longer, is survived by his wife, two children, and parents. Mack, who worked for the Jackson County courts for 12 years, is survived by his fiancée.

The other two officers injured in the exchange have not yet been identified. One has severe injuries, but both are expected to survive.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mack was at the home serving an eviction notice when someone inside started shooting at him.
