Drake shares video of mansion flooding amid Toronto storms

Drake took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday to share a video of his Toronto mansion, known as The Embassy, being flooded. The video shows brown water splashing through a section of the singer-rapper’s home as Toronto experiences record rainfall from three massive storms, causing power outages and stranding residents.

Drake’s humorous take on the situation

In the video, Drake humorously referred to the rushing waters as “espresso martini.” He captioned the clip, which shows him and another person attempting to clean up the mess, with, “This better be espresso martini.”

Toronto hit by record rainfall

Toronto has been deluged with more rain in four hours than the city’s average rainfall for the entire month of July. The heavy downpour has affected highways, roads, and left hundreds of thousands of residents without power. Toronto police reported that parts of the Don Valley Parkway and Lakeshore Boulevard, both major thoroughfares, were closed due to flooding.

Rescue efforts and warnings

Toronto Fire Services reported rescuing 14 people from flooded highways. The police have issued warnings about flooding on various parts of the city’s highways and have urged residents to exercise caution.

One of Toronto’s wettest days on record

According to the TorontoStar, the city received approximately 98 mm of rain on Tuesday, making it the fifth wettest day on record since tracking began in 1938. Environment Canada meteorologist Trudy Kidd noted that Toronto Pearson International Airport typically receives 74 mm of rain for the entire month of July, emphasizing that the city received more than a month’s worth of rain in just one day. More showers are expected in the coming days.
