A video capturing an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP), commonly referred to as a UFO, over Curitiba in southern Brazil has gone viral, igniting widespread interest and speculation on social media.
Triangular object with disappearing landing gear
The footage, filmed on July 21 and uploaded to YouTube by user Zona Desconhecida, shows a triangular flying object hovering over the city. The cameraman zooms in to reveal what appears to be chassis-like landing gear, which later vanishes from view. “I never believed in UFOs until this. When I filmed this unidentified object, at first I thought it was a drone, but it did not have propellers. Then I thought it was a balloon, but the trajectory was in a straight line, and something similar to landing gear appeared,” the user explained in the video caption.
Second video provides a clearer view
The user later posted a second video, offering an even clearer look at the object, which seems transparent on the sides and slightly changes shape while flying. These two videos have garnered over 25,000 views on YouTube and have been widely shared on other social media platforms, quickly going viral.
Speculation and theories
Social media users have been quick to speculate on the nature and origin of the object, with some dubbing it the “clearest UFO video in history.” Analyses of its flight path noted that the object appears to inflate or flatten during the video, leading some to suggest it may be a multidimensional living being. Other theories include a mechanized balloon, a drone, a kite, or an alien spacecraft.
Several users were convinced that the object was a large star-shaped balloon, attributing the ‘landing gear’ to image distortion caused by the filming angle. Others argued that the video quality is insufficient for a definitive assessment.

Local media reported that the Brazilian Air Force has not been able to verify the footage. A spokesperson stated they have “several hypotheses” but no concrete “explanation” for the sighting at this time.
