In-flight altercation leads to flight cancellation
An Air Canada flight from Casablanca to Montreal was abruptly canceled after a flight attendant had a heated argument with a passenger over a blanket request. The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, occurred as the plane was taxiing to the runway. Reports suggest the passenger asked for a blanket due to excessive air conditioning.
Viral video and airline response
In the video, the flight attendant can be seen and heard yelling at the passenger in both French and English. She called the police and demanded the passenger disembark, shouting, “You will behave or we will get off! I’ll tell the captain right away. Yes or no?” She continued to insist on proper behavior from all passengers, saying, “I don’t want no bullying against my crew!”
Flight rescheduled and compensation offered
Air Canada confirmed the cancellation of the July 26 flight and brought in a new crew to transport the passengers to Montreal two days later. The airline promised compensation for the delay and the flight attendant’s behavior. “We are taking this incident very seriously,” said Christophe Hennebell, Air Canada spokesperson. “It is under review, and we will take appropriate action. We apologize to our customers and deeply regret that their experience today fell far short of what they have come to expect when flying with Air Canada.”
The airline’s swift response and commitment to customer service underscore their dedication to addressing and resolving incidents that disrupt travel.
