Vladimir Putin puts Russia's nuclear deterrent forces on alert over tensions with West

Russian President Vladimir Putin put Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces on alert due to tensions with the West. The move comes as Ukrainian intelligence learned the special ops troops are loading up planes for an attack.

Putin puts Russia’s nuclear forces on alert

President Putin revealed to the state TV that NATO powers and the West are making “aggressive statements” against Russia. Additionally, the West is also imposing tough financial sanctions against Putin and Russia. He also ordered Russia’s defense minister and the chief of military’s general staff for putting nuclear forces in a “special regime of combat duty”. However, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US Ambassador to the United nation believes that Putin is “escalating conflict in a manner that is unacceptable”. “It means that President Putin is continuing to escalate this war in a manner that is unacceptable. We have to continue to stem his actions in the strongest possible way,” she added.

“As you can see, not only do Western countries take unfriendly measures against our country in the economic dimension – I mean the illegal sanctions that everyone knows about very well. But also the top officials of leading NATO countries allow themselves to make aggressive statements with regards to our country,” stated Putin.

More about the recent happenings

Putin is also becoming very frustrated at the slow pace of invasion as the Russian troops are failing to capture Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital. Overnight the Russian military and tanks managed to enter Kharki and were successful in triggering a fight. The troops also blew up a natural gas pipeline provoking warnings of “environmental catastrophe” by Ukraine’s authorities. Putin’s order for putting Russian forces on high alert is a part of Moscow’s threats for justifying the aggression.

“We’ve seen him do this time and time again. At no point has Russia been under threat from NATO, has Russia been under threat from Ukraine. This is all a pattern from President Putin and we’re going to stand up to it. We can defend ourselves, but we also need to call out what we’re seeing here from President Putin,” stated White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. The newest escalation follows as Belarus special forces are preparing to assault Kyiv. Ukrainian intelligence has learned that ‘special ops” troops are loading up trains in preparation of an attack.
