California officials are urgently seeking public assistance in locating a 14-year-old mother, her three-month-old baby, and her 15-year-old sister-in-law, who have been missing since Sunday night.
The missing individuals are identified as Amoria Brown, 14, her newborn daughter Omoria Brown, and Sanaii Brown, 15. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), they were last seen around 10 p.m. on Sunday and are believed to be traveling to California’s High Desert, east of Los Angeles, with family members.
Issuance of ebony alert
On Tuesday, authorities issued an Ebony Alert, a specialized alert for the suspicious or unexplained disappearance of a Black person. This alert aims to expedite the search and bring immediate attention to the missing girls.
Medical concerns for newborn
The LAPD has expressed significant concern for the well-being of the newborn, who suffers from a heart condition requiring daily medication. The urgency of the situation is heightened due to the baby’s medical needs.
Amoria Brown is described as Black, standing 5-foot-4 and weighing approximately 140 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a multicolored shirt, gray shorts, and gray sandals.
Sanaii Brown, also Black, has brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5-foot-1 and weighs around 150 pounds, according to the LAPD.
Appeal for public assistance
While police have stated that they do not suspect foul play, they are keen to locate the missing family swiftly. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is urged to contact the LAPD at 1-800-222-8477.
