Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old African-American Memphis citizen, died of injuries on January 10, 2023, three days after being arrested for alleged reckless driving by the Memphis Police Department.
Five police officers have been fired as a result of their involvement in Nichols’ death. They are accused of breaking the use-of-force policy of the police agency. According to preliminary findings from the independent autopsy, He was badly battered and injured before dying.
Nichols complained of shortness of breath
Nichols was hospitalized and died three days after being pulled over by Memphis Police Department officers for careless driving. He fled on foot but was apprehended; three days later, on January 10th, he died of unidentified injuries says sources.

Memphis officials have yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of Nichols’ death, but the family’s attorneys, Benjamin Crump and Antonio Romanucci have stated that an independent autopsy revealed that the 29-year-old died as a result of substantial bleeding caused by a violent assault.
The autopsy was conducted by a nationally recognized forensic pathologist, who discovered that Nichols’ injuries and beatings were consistent with what his family and attorney saw in the bodycam film.
