Two 'dangerous' inmates escape from Mississippi jail

In a startling incident early Friday morning, two inmates facing murder charges managed to escape from the Claiborne County Detention Center in Mississippi. The escape occurred around 2:20 a.m., according to a release from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities are urging residents to take “necessary precautions” as the escapees are considered dangerous.

Identities and charges

The escaped inmates have been identified as 24-year-old Tyrekennel Collins and 18-year-old Dezarrious Johnson. Collins and Johnson were being held on murder charges from Copiah and Jefferson counties, respectively. The sheriff’s department confirmed that the two inmates were not armed and escaped on foot due to “repair issues” at the detention facility.

Public appeal

“Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Tyrekennel Collins or Dezarrious Johnson is asked to contact the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department immediately. The safety of the public is our highest priority, and we appreciate the community’s cooperation in this matter,” the sheriff’s department stated.

The authorities emphasize the urgency of locating these individuals and have requested the public’s assistance in ensuring their swift capture. As the manhunt continues, the community remains on high alert, with law enforcement working diligently to restore safety.
