Despite not participating in the tournament’s opening round, former US President Donald Trump claimed victory at the Senior Club Championship at Trump International Golf Club. Trump skipped the round on Saturday, January 21, as he was in North Carolina for Lynnette Hardaway’s funeral, a fervent fan. On Monday, Trump remarked on his social media site Truth that it was an honour to have won the title and noted that he had played against many excellent players and was known for his long, straight drives.
The former president was arguing that since he didn’t play in the tournament’s first round, another round would count toward his score
“A great honour to have won the Senior Club Championship at Trump International Golf Club, one of the best courses in the Country, in Palm Beach County, Florida. Competed against many fine golfers, and was hitting the ball long and straight. The reason that I announce this on fabulous TRUTH is that, in a very real way, it serves as a physical exam, only MUCH tougher. You need strength and stamina to WIN, & I have strength & stamina – most others don’t. You also need strength & stamina to GOVERN!” Trump wrote.
The Daily Mail reported that when Trump’s rivals arrived at the golf club on Sunday, January 22, they were shocked to see that he had claimed a five-point lead. According to the article, the former president was arguing that since he didn’t play in the tournament’s first round, another round would count toward his score.
Meta just announced that Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts will be restored
Trump informed the event organizers that he played a solid round on the course on January 19, two days before the tournament’s start, and made the decision that his Saturday score would be used to determine the winner. According to the Daily Mail story, he received a Modified Stableford score of 40 for his performance on Thursday. Donald Trump was well-known for spending a lot of weekends at his golf courses while he was president. He played golf more than former President Barack Obama did at various points while in office, according to a Business Insider piece published on Wednesday.
Two years after being barred due to the Capitol Hill incident, social media juggernaut Meta just announced that Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts will be restored. President of international relations at Meta, Nick Clegg, issued a statement saying, “We will be reinstating Mr Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts in the coming weeks.” The change would include “additional guardrails in place to deter repeat violations,” Clegg continued. Trump may face a suspension of up to two years in the future for each infraction of the platform rules, Clegg added.
