A new video has TikTok users concerned, as their feeds appear to have been ‘frozen’ after watching it.
Users have been flooding the internet with complaints about posts that lock their TikTok app, preventing users from moving to the previous or next video. Many people believe that the videos and photos in question cause the app to freeze completely, effectively bricking it for that session or even ruining their phones. The truth, as always, is much less thrilling, but still bothersome.
The videos, or rather images that appear to be videos, invariably include some flippant quip along the lines of “Sorry, I have to stop you from scrolling,” which appears to be the case at first glance.
If you try to swipe up or down, nothing happens; your attention will most likely be taken to the “I’ve stopped you scrolling” message instead. What appears to be occurring is that individuals have discovered that if you post an image and tag it with a large number of people, when the user touches the screen, they are simply hitting a user profile in that tag.
How to fix the TikTok screen freeze trend
The screen is fine, your phone is OK, and you can scroll since this is one of those illusionary hacks that pretend to be something they are not. In this scenario, they do not lock your app at all.
Two quick and straightforward solutions to solve the problem are:
- Press the home button to refresh your feed.
- Scroll from the very bottom right or center of the screen.
