The scary reality of gun violence deaths in the US
Three months into a new year, statistics reveal about 9,870 people lost their lives due to US gun shootings as of 27 March. The average number of deaths of 114 people per day indicates the grave situation in the US. Both adults and children were victims of gun violence. The Gun Violence Archive performed data analysis. Among the 9,870 people who lost their lives, 57.9 percent died by suicide.
Additionally, the report includes both murders and suicides due to gun violence. Among the 9,870, 338 of them were teens and 60 were children. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tracked gun-related deaths based on the situation. This divides the lost lives based on intentionality, law enforcement-related, and undetermined circumstances. The report revealed 322 people were killed in police-involved shootings. 344 lives were categorized as “unintentional”.
