TikToker Keith Lee, who is well-known for his food reviews and restaurant recommendations, was in New York on December 6, where he reviewed Salmon Chopped Cheese based on a fan’s recommendation.
“It’s a little salty in my opinion, but it’s good; it is exactly what it is in my opinion: seasoned salmon with a bunch of sauce, tomatoes, and some lettuce. I am not mad at this, but I am also not crazy about it. 7/10.”
The Salmon Chopped Cheese piqued the interest of netizens, particularly New Yorkers, and many wondered who recommended the restaurant to him. Many New Yorkers were also disappointed that their favorite restaurants were not featured in the video.
While in New York, he asked his audience to recommend several pizza joints, adding that his goal for the New York video was to rank the “top three suggested spots.”
Lee ordered a single slice of cheese pizza and a single slice of their most popular combination pizza from each restaurant, reviewed them individually in front of the camera in his car, and posted about them on TikTok (@keith_lee125).
“Not as mad as Atlanta,” say Netizens of Keith Lee’s New York video
Keith Lee was in Atlanta earlier in November, and his reviews sparked a debate. Ocho Cinco, an NFL player, stated that Lee’s reviews were harmful to the Black food community.
Netizens pointed out that his recent New York food review video isn’t as bad as Atlanta’s. Many New Yorkers also pointed out that the best pizza places in New York are in Brooklyn, whereas Keith Lee’s restaurants are mostly in Manhattan and Soho.
Other users also mentioned Keith Lee’s original goal for creating the food review videos, which was to assist struggling small business owners. His recent videos, according to some, are against his mission.
Keith Lee has quickly become TikTok’s favorite food critic. He orders takeout from restaurants and other eateries and rates them on a scale of 1 to 10. With 16 million followers, his reviews can make or break a business.
He is a former MMA fighter who began writing reviews in 2021. By visiting with his family, he tries to remain anonymous to document the quality of service at the restaurants.
