Dramatic crash caught on camera
A small plane made a terrifying crash landing in the front yard of a home in northern Utah. The dramatic incident was captured by the home’s security camera, providing a vivid account of the near-disaster.
Footage of the plane crash reveals harrowing details
CCTV footage shows a small white aircraft slamming onto the lawn, sliding towards the porch, but stopping just short. Despite pieces of debris scattering across the yard, the plane remained largely intact.
Immediate panic and response
Anthony Baugh, the homeowner, described his immediate reaction upon learning of the crash. “I went into an immediate panic trying to get home as fast as I could,” he told ABC4.
According to Roy Police Department Sgt. Josh Taylor, the plane crashed near 4500 South and 2350 West shortly before 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Remarkably, both occupants of the aircraft escaped with only minor injuries.
No injuries in the neighborhood
No one in the home or surrounding neighborhood was hurt. While the plane was damaged, it is uncertain if Baugh’s home sustained any significant impact. Baugh recounted seeing one victim with a cut near his eye and the other in a state of shock. Neighbor Katie Quigley observed the pilot and passenger walking away from the crash. She noted that the aircraft landed on two trees, preventing a direct hit on Baugh’s home. “A lot of people here were blessed today,” Baugh said.
The crash was particularly distressing for Baugh’s family. “My eldest one, he was shaken up a little bit. We had some family members that passed away in a plane crash a few years ago, so it was a little nerve-racking,” he explained.
Investigation underway
The cause of the crash remains unknown and is currently under investigation by the Roy Police Department, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
This incident comes over five months after a small plane crashed into a mobile home park in Clearwater, Florida, resulting in the deaths of several people, including the pilot and two residents. The recurring nature of such crashes highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of small aircraft and the importance of rigorous investigative procedures.
