In a startling incident, a Florida man was captured on video hurling lawn chairs and other items from a 20-story highrise in Midtown Manhattan, narrowly missing pedestrians below. The man, identified as Jean Olivier, 33, from West Park, Florida, threw the items from a landing one level down from the roof of 555 Fifth Ave., an office building that houses a Barnes & Noble on the ground floor.
The bizarre outburst occurred after Olivier visited the Consulate General of Haiti inside the building, reportedly complaining about housing issues before his tantrum began, law enforcement sources revealed.
Vendor Modibo Cissoko, who witnessed the incident, described the scene as chaotic, with onlookers panicking and police arriving swiftly. “I saw a lot of looking, panicking, and police come,” Cissoko told The Post on Tuesday. “I wasn’t here when it started but that’s what I saw.”
Police were able to locate and arrest Olivier, charging him with burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and criminal trespass. Olivier, who has no prior arrests, is now facing serious legal repercussions for his dangerous actions.
