Watch: De Niro voices Biden's campaign ad depicting Trump as an 'out of control' president

As the US elections approach, President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign has unveiled a new high-profile video targeting his rival, Donald Trump. The ad, titled “Snapped,” features narration by Robert De Niro, a long-time critic of Trump, and portrays the former president as power-hungry.

‘Snapped’

The 30-second video sets a dramatic tone with orchestral music and news footage from Trump’s presidency.

“From midnight tweets, to drinking bleach, to teargassing citizens and staging a photo-op, we knew Trump was out of control when he was president, and then he lost the 2020 election and snapped,” says De Niro in the voiceover.

Among the highlighted images from Trump’s presidency is one from a notorious 2020 press conference during the Covid era, where Trump suggested that drinking bleach could internally combat the virus.

The ad also includes scenes from the violent January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol

The ad also includes scenes from the violent January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, where Trump supporters, incited by him, stormed the congressional chambers to halt the certification of Biden’s election victory.

As these images are shown, De Niro narrates that Trump was “desperately trying to hold on to power… Now he’s running again, this time threatening to be a dictator, to terminate the constitution.”

The video continues with footage from a recent Trump interview where he speaks of a “bloodbath” if he does not win, accompanied by De Niro’s voiceover stating: “Trump wants revenge and he’ll stop at nothing to get it.”

The ad concludes with Biden saying, “I’m Joe Biden and I approve this message,” as he walks towards a doorway and salutes the troops guarding him.

According to campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon, “Joe Biden will hold Donald Trump accountable… And he’s raring to go.”
