FDA Updates Recall to Class II Status
Walmart has issued a recall for its popular Great Value brand apple juice due to elevated arsenic levels. The recall, initially announced earlier this month, was updated to a Class II status by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday. The federal agency’s initial notice stated that the product “contains inorganic arsenic above the action level set in industry guidance.”
Details of the recall
Refresco Beverages US Inc., based in Tampa, Florida, issued the recall for 9,535 cases of the eight-ounce Great Value Apple Juice sold in six-packs with PET plastic bottles (UPC 0-78742-29655-5). The recall number F-1746-2024 was announced on August 15. The affected products have a “best if used by” date of December 28, 2024.

The recalled apple juice was distributed across 25 states, including Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia.
