Julia Louis-Dreyfus to support Kamala Harris at Democratic National Convention
Actor-comedian Julia Louis-Dreyfus has announced her plans to attend this month’s Democratic National Convention to support Vice President Kamala Harris. Louis-Dreyfus, known for her role as Vice President Selina Meyer on the acclaimed show “Veep,” revealed she will be “extra-involved” in Harris’ campaign.
Backing Harris against Trump
Kamala Harris, a Democrat, is set to face her Republican rival and former President Donald Trump in the US general elections on November 5. Speaking to The Times of London, Louis-Dreyfus confirmed her likely presence at the convention in Chicago, expressing her commitment to actively supporting Harris’ campaign efforts.
“I probably will be, yes,” Louis-Dreyfus said, indicating her increased involvement in the political process.
Comparisons with “veep”
Louis, who has won six Emmys for her portrayal of Selina Meyer on HBO’s “Veep,” addressed the frequent comparisons between her character and Kamala Harris. She remarked that such comparisons are “inevitable,” but offered a humorous take on any potential advice from Selina Meyer to Harris.
“If Selina had any advice for Kamala, she had best not take it. I think Kamala is so intelligent she wouldn’t take the call,” Louis-Dreyfus added.
“Veep” legacy
“Veep,” created by Armando Iannucci, ran for seven seasons from 2012 to 2017. The political satire series follows Former Senator Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus) as she navigates her role as the Vice President of the United States. The show also stars Anna Chlumsky, Reid Scott, Sarah Sutherland, and Tony Hale.
