Trump appearance at NYC kosher deli canceled at the last minute after owner dies

Trump Cancels Brooklyn Kosher Deli Visit Following Owner’s Sudden Death

Former President Donald Trump’s planned visit to a kosher deli in Brooklyn on Thursday was unexpectedly canceled after the deli’s owner, Shalom Yoseph Gottelib, passed away from a heart attack at the age of 75.

Trump was scheduled to stop by Gottlieb’s, a well-known eatery in the Hassidic neighborhood of Williamsburg, before heading to Washington, D.C., for an event on “Combatting Antisemitism.” However, news of the owner’s death led to the cancellation of the appearance.

Shalom Yoseph Gottelib, who had been battling pneumonia, died earlier in the day after suffering a heart attack. The family-owned deli was founded by Gottelib’s father, a Holocaust survivor. Over the years, the establishment became a staple in the local Jewish community, serving traditional kosher food. In recent years, Shalom’s son, Menashe, had taken over the day-to-day operations of the beloved eatery.

Before the deli visit was called off, Trump, 78, made an appearance at PubKey, a Bitcoin-themed bar in New York City. He later traveled to Long Island to hold a campaign rally at Nassau Coliseum.

The former president’s campaign continues to draw attention, and his scheduled visits reflect his focus on engaging with a wide range of communities. However, the sudden passing of the respected deli owner cast a somber note on what had been a day of political appearances.
