A former US Navy SEAL who claimed to have killed Osama bin Laden in 2011 was arrested earlier this week in Texas for allegedly committing bodily harm, The New York Post reported.
According to The Dallas Morning News, a daily serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area of the US state of Texas, Robert O’Neil was arrested on Wednesday in Frisco and released on a USD 3,500 bond the same day.
According to The New York Post, the former Navy SEAL has been jailed on a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault inflicting bodily harm and a Class C misdemeanor allegation of public intoxication.
Former Navy SEAL, O’Neill rose to prominence after claiming responsibility for firing the rounds that killed 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden during a secret US mission in Pakistan in 2011.
The story was told in his 2017 biography, “The Operator.” According to The New York Post, the US government has never acknowledged or disputed the story.
O’Neill’s current arrest is not his first brush with the law. In 2016, he was arrested for drunk driving in Montana, which prosecutors eventually dropped, according to CBS News.
