Houston Lawyer Brittany Lacayo Achieves Guinness World Record
Brittany Lacayo, a Houston area attorney, has made headlines by securing a unique Guinness World Record. Lacayo now holds the prestigious title for the widest female tongue, measuring an astonishing 7.90 centimeters (3.11 inches) wide. To put this into perspective, her tongue’s width surpasses that of a hockey puck, an AA battery, a credit card, and a standard business card.
“Her tongue is 2.5 cm (1 in) wider than it is long when measuring length from the tip to the middle of the closed top lip,” Guinness World Records stated in their official announcement of Lacayo’s achievement. “In fact, 7.90 cm is the exact same size as the average length of a woman’s entire tongue when measured from the epiglottis (a flap of cartilage behind the tongue).”
Lacayo’s impressive measurement breaks the previous record that had stood for a decade. The former record-holder, Emily Schlenker, boasted a tongue width of 7.33 centimeters (2.89 inches). Lacayo’s new record underscores a significant leap in this unusual category.
Male counterpart holds an even wider record
While Lacayo’s achievement is remarkable, the record for the widest tongue among males is held by American Brian Thompson, with an astounding width of 8.88 centimeters (3.49 inches).
Brittany Lacayo’s record-setting tongue has not only earned her a place in the Guinness World Records but also brought attention to the fascinating and diverse range of human physical attributes. Her accomplishment serves as a testament to the uniqueness of individual traits and the ever-expanding boundaries of human records.
