Suspected pedophile dies by suicide after admitting to child pornography
A suspected pedophile in South Dakota took his own life moments after confessing to watching child pornography to a predator hunter outside his home.
Disturbing confession
Donald Letcher, 60, provided graphic details about the disturbing videos he watched, which featured children as young as infants, to Predator Poachers founder Alex Rosen. This confession was captured on footage shared by the “Breanna Morello Show” podcast. Letcher described scenes involving males holding down babies and performing explicit acts on them.
Police involvement
Rosen, after gathering enough evidence, called a police officer to the scene and got Letcher to repeat his admission in the officer’s presence. As the officer called his supervisor, Letcher went inside his house, and a gunshot was heard.
Though the crew outside did not initially react to the noise, thinking it “wasn’t a loud shot,” it was later revealed that Letcher had shot himself in the head with a .22 caliber bullet. “The cop breaks the door down and then one of my camera guys goes around the window and sees him (Letcher) on the ground with a hole in his head bleeding out of it,” Rosen recounted.
Prior contact and past offenses
Letcher was airlifted to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had previously contacted Rosen’s team, who were posing as a preteen girl, and asked for explicit photos. “This guy messaged us first in April, and all the messages he was pretty sexual, asking us for nudes thinking we were a 12-year-old girl,” Rosen said.
Rosen had Letcher graphically describe the videos he watched to ensure there was video evidence of his admissions. “When they describe basically everything they see, it leaves no doubt they’re guilty of watching and possessing that stuff,” Rosen added.
Legal history
Letcher had a history of allegations against him. In 1996, he was accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl, a case that was later overturned by the South Dakota Supreme Court. Additionally, in 2022, Letcher faced DUI and hit-and-run charges after running over a 6-year-old girl in an incident unrelated to pedophilia.

Rosen emphasized the importance of having Letcher describe the videos in detail to ensure there was no doubt about his guilt. “When they describe basically everything they see, it leaves no doubt they’re guilty of watching and possessing that stuff,” he added.
