Entrepreneur Claims Unpaid Services Promised Promotion in Exchange
Rapper and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs faces allegations from a small business owner claiming she was scammed out of nearly $4,000 in services for his twin daughters’ birthday party in 2013. Ashlee Abrams, owner of Beverly Hills Princess, says she was promised a free promotion in return for providing a princess-themed party for Combs’ daughters, D’Lila and Jessie.
The alleged incident
Abrams detailed her experience with Combs, recounting how his assistant contacted her about the party when the twins were seven. “They wanted seven princesses, for three hours, and they wanted to pay—surprise, surprise—$0,” Abrams told the Daily Express US. She agreed to the arrangement, as Combs’ assistant promised her business would be tagged on his social media, which then had over 5 million followers.
Abrams said she invested heavily in the event, spending money out of her pocket to assemble “the best, most talented, most stunning princesses in the industry,” expecting the publicity to compensate for her financial loss.
Party details and disappointment
Abrams described the grand entrance Combs made, arriving at his Los Angeles mansion and refusing to enter until announced. “This man arrived at his daughters’ birthday party and refused to come inside until he was announced,” she recalled. She also noted that Combs spent minimal time with his daughters, instead mingling with his entourage.
After the party concluded, Abrams hoped to see her business tagged in Combs’ social media posts but was met with disappointment. “He posted some of the photos we had captured, and guess what? No tag. No mention whatsoever of Beverly Hills Princess,” she said. When she followed up with his assistant, she was told, “Diddy doesn’t do tagging or unpaid endorsements.”
Long-term impact on Abrams
“I was livid, hurt, and confused,” Abrams said, noting the financial strain the incident caused her small business. Reflecting on the event 11 years later, she expressed frustration at having not secured a written agreement.
“In light of the current Diddy scandal, I felt I could finally tell this story publicly,” Abrams added, referencing recent legal troubles facing the rapper.
Combs’ recent legal issues
Diddy is currently embroiled in a separate controversy, having been denied bail after being arrested on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. His bail appeal was denied, with the judge citing him as a “danger” to society. He is currently on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
