Meet Suborno Bari, the "World's Youngest Professor," who graduated high school at just 12

Twelve-year-old Suborno Bari is set to become the youngest graduate from Malverne High School on Long Island. On June 26, Bari will receive his diploma and embark on his next journey at New York University (NYU) in the fall.

A prolific scholar, Bari has authored two books and taught college classes in India. He gained international recognition with a perfect SAT score of 1500 at the age of 11, according to ABC7.

Dubbed the “World’s Youngest Professor,” he was invited to lecture at Mumbai University as a guest professor of physics.

Bari’s passion for math and physics has earned him a full scholarship at NYU, where he aims to become a professor and help others “understand math and science.” His exceptional academic abilities allowed him to skip several grades, advancing from 4th to 8th and then from 9th to 12th grade.

Reflecting on his high school experience, Bari shared, “I have a deep curiosity for every subject, whether it’s math, science, or history.” Despite being much younger than his peers, he found support from both faculty and most students encouraging.

His mother, Shaheda Bari, proudly noted his unique journey and exceptional abilities, stating, “He’s not like other kids. He was always one step forward,” she told ABC7. Teachers praised him as a standout student, with his AP chemistry teacher, Patrick Nolan, calling him a “truly unique case.”

Recognized by former US President Barack Obama at age 4 for his accomplishments in math and science, Bari authored his first book, ‘The Love,’ at age 7, imagining a world free from terrorism. At age 9, he was acknowledged by Harvard University for his problem-solving abilities and accepted into New York City’s gifted and talented program, also attending classes at Stony Brook University.

Bari is on track to complete his Bachelor’s degree by 14 and plans to earn a Doctorate by age 18.
