Know what the polls say about Trump vs. Nikki Haley in the Republican presidential race

Nikki

As the Republican presidential nomination race approaches a head-to-head matchup, former President Donald Trump emerges as the obvious frontrunner among New Hampshire voters, surpassing his only surviving challenger, Nikki Haley. According to The Washington Post polls, Donald Trump leads the presidential campaign with 52% support, while former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley trails with 34%.

The most recent CNN/UNH survey shows a significant gain in support for both Mr Trump and Ms Haley compared to early January results. In the last poll, Mr Trump had 39% support, while Ms Haley had 32%. The concentration of the field, with prominent rivals withdrawing, has driven an increase in support for both candidates. Despite Nikki Haley’s significant gains since late summer, Mr Trump maintains a commanding lead, increasing the margin to a double-digit figure.

Nikki Haley’s support almost doubled from 18 per cent in November, possibly benefiting from Chris Christie’s withdrawal

In the most recent survey, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis received 8% support, but this was before he abruptly suspended his candidacy. Nikki Haley’s support almost doubled from 18 per cent in November, possibly benefiting from Chris Christie’s withdrawal. Donald Trump might have gained momentum from Vivek Ramaswamy’s endorsement and could get more support with Mr DeSantis leaving, who endorsed Mr Trump.

With only a few days until the primary, over one-fifth of likely Republican voters haven’t made their decision. Among this category, Ms Haley has the highest support (51%), followed by Mr Trump (28%), and Mr DeSantis (14%). However, with the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary appearing to favour Mr Trump, the outcome on Tuesday would certainly cement his status as the dominant force in the GOP nomination contest for the 2024 elections.
