A routine bedtime turned into a nightmare for a babysitter in Kansas when she discovered a man hiding under a child’s bed after the youngster expressed fear of a ‘monster.’ Authorities confirmed that the suspect, 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Junior, had been previously barred from the residence by a restraining order.

The unsettling incident occurred on Monday night near the city of Great Bend. As the babysitter attempted to calm the child, she was shocked to come face-to-face with the intruder. The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspect fled the scene after a brief struggle, during which a child was knocked over.

Police launched an immediate search, and Villalobos was taken into custody the following morning in the same area. Authorities stated that he was arrested without incident.

Charges and legal proceedings

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Villalobos faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, burglary, battery, and child endangerment. He is currently being held at Barton County Jail with a bond set at $500,000.
