Harvard-educated attorney and Elon Musk biographer claims billionaire is 'going mad': Here's why

Seth Abramson, a Harvard Law School graduate and self-identified Elon Musk biographer, has sounded the alarm about the billionaire’s mental well-being, citing potential risks to public safety. Abramson, who claims to have tracked Musk’s online behavior for two years, shared his concerns in a detailed thread on X (formerly Twitter).

I legitimately believe Elon Musk may be going mad

In his post, Abramson expressed fear over Musk’s mental state, referencing the Tesla CEO’s history of mental health struggles, drug use, and high-stress lifestyle. “I’m a Musk biographer who has been tracking his online behavior for the last two years—and given that he’s admitted to all of the mental illness, heavy drug use, and crippling stress, it is now reasonable to fear he is deeply unwell,” Abramson wrote.

He added, “His holdings across many civilization-essential industries and the fact that he’s the incoming POTUS mean that his madness and increasing incitement of violence endanger us all.”

Musk’s expanding role raises concerns

Beyond his roles as Tesla CEO and owner of the social media platform X, Musk is set to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Donald Trump’s administration. This new appointment amplifies Abramson’s concerns about Musk’s potential impact on public policy and national security. “Musk’s private struggles could have dramatic public consequences,” Abramson stated, emphasizing Musk’s influence over essential industries and public discourse.

A call for urgent action

Abramson urged the outgoing administration to take immediate steps to mitigate potential risks posed by Musk. “For 14 days more, the administration is in a position to take urgent action to protect America from Elon Musk,” he wrote.

Suggested actions included canceling U.S. contracts with Musk, filing lawsuits to block the DOGE initiative, and launching federal investigations. However, Abramson acknowledged the unlikelihood of such measures being implemented.

Public reaction and debate

Abramson’s warnings sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many echoing his concerns. Some questioned Musk’s priorities, given his immense wealth and influence. “The world’s richest man could be someone great—but instead, it turns out to be a thin-skinned, drug-addled Bond villain,” one X user wrote. Another added, “He is a billionaire; why doesn’t he buy a private island and spend the rest of his life growing vegetables and walking on the beach? It’s what I would do.”

Abramson’s past criticisms of Musk

This is not the first time Abramson has publicly criticized Musk. He previously called the billionaire “deranged and creepy” for reportedly crashing a private dinner between Donald Trump and Jeff Bezos. As the world’s richest man and a figure of immense power, Musk continues to attract scrutiny. Abramson’s remarks add to the growing discourse surrounding the responsibilities of influential leaders and their potential impact on society.
