A Georgia grand jury has indicted former President Donald Trump and 18 of his associates on state crimes related to his efforts to overturn his 2020 election setback in the Peach State. The 41-count indictment was released on Monday and marks Trump’s fourth criminal charge. The Fulton County grand jury delivered an indictment against Trump that included 13 charges. He now faces 91 charges in four criminal prosecutions across four jurisdictions—two federal and two state.

The decision follows the release of a 98-page indictment last week, which labeled the charges against Trump as politically motivated and intended to undermine his reelection campaign. According to the local sheriff’s office, there would be a “hard lockdown” of the area surrounding the Rice Street Jail upon surrender. According to Reuters, the bond deal signed by Trump’s attorneys and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis includes a $200,000 bond for the former president, as well as directions not to transmit any threatening messages on social media throughout the trial processes.
Trump, a leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, is expected to resign the day after the first Republican primary presidential debate. It is worth noting that he has opted not to take part in this debate. The indictment, which was released on August 14, had set a Friday at noon ET deadline for Trump and his co-defendants to surrender or face detention. Prosecutors have suggested a March 4 trial start date, but Trump’s defense team has advocated for a 2026 trial.
