Florida: Disney World visitors step in to halt alleged domestic violence incident

A family outing turned into a shocking scene of violence at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, where bystanders were forced to step in and restrain a man attacking at least one woman, authorities said.

Bystanders tackle suspect amid chaos

The incident occurred in the outdoor dining area of the popular theme park, as children and families watched in horror. Matthew Cameron, 21, allegedly began brutally assaulting a woman in broad daylight, prompting nearby guests to tackle him to the ground until park security arrived.

A video obtained by the Daily Mail shows good samaritans pinning Cameron down before he was taken into custody by police. “Both women had bloody noses and were crying. I saw two small children crying and led away by a Disney cast member,” the man who filmed the incident told the Mail.

Domestic violence charges filed

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office charged Cameron with domestic battery, describing the altercation as “a domestic-related incident between two family members.” Authorities did not publicly identify the victims but confirmed they were related to Cameron.

Family trip ends in turmoil

The video showed a young woman wearing Mickey Mouse ears holding a napkin to her bleeding nose, standing beside an older woman who appeared to have a similar injury. Social media posts suggest that the victims could be Cameron’s mother, Diane, and his sister, Sarah, both of whom had shared photos from previous visits to the park.

Cameron’s mother and sister, who reside in Burlington, Massachusetts, had previously posted pictures on Facebook from family trips to Disney. Despite the traumatic incident, no additional details have been released about their current condition.

Disney guests left stunned

The altercation has left park-goers and staff stunned, as Disney World is typically known for its family-friendly atmosphere. One witness described the scene as chaotic, with children crying and being led away by Disney employees.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, but the incident has raised concerns about safety and domestic violence even in public, family-oriented spaces like Disney World.

This disturbing episode comes amid an otherwise festive season at the park, serving as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of such situations—even in the “happiest place on Earth.”
