Ex-MLB pitcher Greg Swindell’s daughter found: Ex-boyfriend arrested following cryptic note

A Harrowing Ordeal Ends with Relief

AUSTIN, TX — The search for Brenna Swindell, daughter of former MLB pitcher Greg Swindell, has come to a dramatic conclusion. Brenna was found safe early Tuesday, just two days after her mother, Sarah, announced her disappearance on social media. The update was shared by Greg Swindell on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Discovery and arrest

Authorities in Travis County, Texas, located the 29-year-old Brenna overnight. She was found in the company of her ex-boyfriend, Morgan Guidry, who was subsequently arrested on a warrant issued by the sheriff’s office, according to NewsNation.

“She has been found. That’s all we have for now,” Greg tweeted. “Thank you to everyone. And I mean everyone who helped in the process. 🙏🏼.”

In a follow-up tweet, Greg expressed his gratitude: “Thanks for all the messages call and most of all PRAYERS. Journey home starts soon. Keep 🙏🏼.”

Cryptic note raises concerns

The situation took a more unsettling turn when Guidry’s father revealed to KVUE that his son had left a cryptic note: “Off to travel the world Morgan + Brenna, see you on other side,” he wrote. Guidry’s father also expressed his own anguish, stating how much he misses and loves his son.

The disappearance

Brenna Swindell was first reported missing on Sunday when her mother, Sarah, disclosed that she had not heard from her daughter since August 22. Sarah’s Facebook post detailed her concerns:

“Her phone is off and she has not been in contact with family, friends, and most importantly her children,” Sarah wrote. “Her ex-boyfriend in the photo has a warrant and is violent so PLEASE if you have seen or heard from either one of them, let us know. She drives a white Kia Carnival which has not been located yet. We are in the process of filing a missing persons report so that will be with Austin Police soon. THANK YOU and please share. Brennie, if you see this, we all love you so much and need you home!”

Sarah later updated her post to highlight that the car had been tracked to Colorado, reinforcing her belief that her daughter was in danger.

“We SO appreciate all the leads and the offers of help from people in Colorado. But we have no idea where in Colorado they are, or if they are even still there. PLEASE keep the tips coming of any sightings or information,” she wrote. “Again, her boyfriend is in trouble with law from when he assaulted her last month and we don’t know if she went with him willingly, was talked into running away with him, or what. I still feel she would never abandon her 3 children or just take off without explanation. So until we can prove otherwise, we feel she is in danger. Thank you again, everyone.”

A plea for help

Greg Swindell, who enjoyed a 17-year career in Major League Baseball, including a stint with the 2001 World Series champion Arizona Diamondbacks, took to social media to amplify the search efforts. On Monday, he shared a press release from the Austin Police Department’s missing person unit, announcing Brenna’s disappearance.

The statement revealed that Brenna was last seen with Guidry around 10:20 p.m. on August 22 at a bar in Spicewood, Texas. Both their phones had been turned off, adding to the urgency of the search.

Greg also posted a warrant for Guidry’s arrest for assault, underscoring the serious nature of the situation.

A happy ending

Less than 24 hours later, the Swindell family received the good news they had been praying for.

“Brenna and Morgan have been located and are okay!” Sarah posted on Tuesday morning. “THANK YOU to everyone who prayed and shared informations to us!🙌🏻”
