Elon Musk reportedly backs Trump in 2024 election
Elon Musk has reportedly urged a group of fellow billionaires and top political strategists to support Donald Trump in the 2024 election, believing the GOP candidate will effectively address illegal immigration.
Palm Beach meeting reveals Elon Musk’s stance
During a gathering in February at an oceanfront mansion in Palm Beach owned by activist investor Nelson Peltz, Musk’s endorsement of Trump was met with mixed reactions, as reported by The Washington Post. Some attendees, including former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove, were visibly uneasy with Musk’s backing of the former president.
Concerns over illegal immigration
Musk, who went public with his Trump endorsement following an assassination attempt on July 13, reportedly launched into a detailed discussion on illegal immigration at the February 16 meeting. He initially claimed he wasn’t a strong supporter of Trump but expressed concerns over President Joe Biden’s policies. Musk argued that Biden’s approach would allow millions of undocumented immigrants to enter the U.S., potentially harming the economy and altering the demographic landscape to the GOP’s detriment.
Emphasis on word of mouth
Musk emphasized the importance of word of mouth, citing his experience growing the Tesla brand. He conveyed to his fellow guests the necessity of grassroots efforts to bolster Trump’s campaign.
Despite his support, Musk expressed reservations about Trump potentially using donor funds to pay his escalating legal bills. To address this, Elon Musk helped establish America PAC, aiming to attract Silicon Valley investors interested in supporting Trump.
Musk, who supported Biden in the 2020 election, has since switched his allegiance to Trump. He reportedly advocated for J.D. Vance as a potential running mate for Trump. However, differences remain between the two men.
Clarifying financial contributions
Following Trump’s claim at a Michigan rally that Elon Musk was donating $45 million a month to his campaign, Musk clarified in an interview with conservative psychologist Jordan Peterson that the reports were inaccurate. “I’m not donating $45 million a month to Trump,” Musk said. Instead, he explained that his contributions were directed to America PAC, intended for use on both Democrat and Republican initiatives.
Musk concluded by reiterating his broader vision for the country with the slogan “MAG: Make America Greater.”
