Disturbing prank: TikTok star Charles Smith faces legal troubles after filming himself spraying pesticide on produce at grocery store

Social media influencer Charles Smith, widely known by his online persona Wolfie Kahletti, has found himself in serious legal trouble following a reckless stunt that has drawn widespread condemnation. The 27-year-old TikTok personality was indicted on felony and misdemeanor charges after filming himself spraying bug spray on food items at a Walmart in Mesa, Arizona.

According to police reports, Smith was arrested on December 21, just days after the incident, which occurred on December 19. He allegedly entered the Walmart to film a prank for his social media followers. He picked up a can of Hot Shot Ultra Bed Bug and Flea Killer from the shelf without paying and proceeded to spray it on various produce items, including fruits, vegetables, and rotisserie chickens.

“Smith filmed his face, the pesticide can, and the act of spraying,” stated the Mesa Police Department. The video was later shared online, prompting outrage from viewers who condemned his actions as dangerous and irresponsible.

Charges filed against Smith

As a result of his actions, Smith now faces multiple charges, including one count of third-degree burglary and two counts of adding poison or other harmful substances to food or drink.

Additionally, he has been charged with endangerment and criminal damage due to the estimated $900 worth of produce that had to be discarded as a result of his actions.

Authorities revealed that Smith turned himself in less than 24 hours after the incident, admitting to theft and misuse of the pesticide. His attorney has confirmed that he entered a plea of not guilty to all charges.

Social media backlash and consequences

The now-deleted video showcasing Smith’s prank quickly went viral, attracting significant backlash from social media users who expressed concern over the potential health risks associated with such reckless behavior. In response to the public outcry, Smith reportedly returned to Walmart to remove the contaminated items.

Mesa Police issued a warning against similar pranks, emphasizing that “this incident underscores the potential dangers of reckless actions disguised as social media pranks.” The case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences that can arise from seeking online notoriety through dangerous stunts.

As Smith navigates these legal challenges, his actions have sparked a broader conversation about accountability in social media culture and the responsibilities that come with influencing a large audience.
