Billionaire Bryan Johnson removes all his plasma to reverse aging: Here’s how 'Total Plasma Exchange' works

Billionaire Bryan Johnson, famous for his dedication to reversing aging, recently took to social media to share details of his latest experiment—what he called his “super clean” plasma. Johnson underwent a total plasma exchange (TPE), a medical procedure that he claims is central to his age-reversing regimen.

Bragging about “liquid gold” plasma

In his post, Bryan Johnson expressed pride in his plasma, referring to it as “liquid gold.” He revealed that after his TPE session, the clinic’s lab technician found his plasma so clean and pristine that he hesitated to throw it away.

“The operator, who’s been doing TPE for 9 years, said my plasma is the cleanest he’s ever seen. By far. He couldn’t get over it,” Johnson wrote on social media platform X, adding that the technician imagined the positive impact the plasma could have. Johnson further shared a photo of himself holding a bag of straw-colored liquid, claiming the plasma had regenerative powers.

Age-reversing regimen: Project Blueprint

Bryan Johnson, well-known for his obsession with longevity, has reportedly spent over $2 million annually on a regimen he refers to as Project Blueprint, a comprehensive program of strict diet, exercise, and experimental treatments aimed at reducing his epigenetic age. He believes this approach has significantly slowed his biological aging.

As part of this regimen, Johnson undergoes regular plasma exchanges. The most recent treatment saw him replace his plasma with albumin, a substitute fluid. He noted the potential benefits of the procedure, saying, “TPE removes all of my body’s plasma and replaces it with albumin. The therapy objectives are to remove toxins from my body. The evidence is emergent.”

Impact on family: Multigenerational plasma exchange

In a particularly bold experiment earlier this year, Johnson used plasma from his 17-year-old son for what he described as the “world’s first multigenerational plasma exchange.” Johnson referred to his son as his “blood boy” in reference to the plasma donation, which he believes contributed to his anti-aging efforts.

Bryan Johnson also claimed that when a liter of his plasma was injected into his father, it reduced his father’s biological age by 25 years, further demonstrating the power of his plasma.

What is total plasma exchange (TPE)?

Total plasma exchange, or TPE, is a medical procedure often linked to anti-aging and regenerative treatments. During TPE, the plasma is removed from the patient and replaced with either donor plasma or a substitute like albumin. The procedure is intended to remove toxins from the body, which Johnson believes is key to slowing the aging process.

While experts continue to study the long-term effects of TPE on aging, Johnson’s high-profile experiments have drawn attention, sparking conversations about the future of regenerative medicine.
