Biden’s Record-Breaking Vacation Days Leave Americans Astonished
President Takes 532 Days Off in Less Than Four Years
In a surprising revelation, President Joe Biden has taken a staggering 532 vacation days during his tenure, leaving many Americans bewildered. The 81-year-old leader has spent nearly 40% of his 1,326 days in office on vacation, often seen lounging on beaches as the nation grapples with numerous challenges.
Comparison with average American worker
To put this in perspective, an average American receives 11 vacation days annually. According to data compiled by the Republican National Committee (RNC), it would take nearly 48 years for an average worker to accumulate the same number of vacation days as President Biden has taken in less than four years.
Criticism from political figures
Mark Paoletta, former White House budget office general counsel under President Donald Trump, was particularly vocal in his criticism. “The image of Biden fast asleep and lying flat on his back in his chair at the beach while America and the world are on fire will define the Biden presidency,” he remarked.
Paoletta elaborated, “Inflation has been out of control; prices still way too high; our border overrun with millions of illegal aliens committing violent crimes on our citizens; the world in a perilous state; and all Biden wants to do is go on vacation and check out — for more than 530 days.”
The RNC further pointed out that Biden was enjoying himself at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, marking his “16th straight day on vacation.” Since late July, Biden has maintained a lower public profile, especially after withdrawing his candidacy from the presidential elections.
Breaking presidential vacation records
According to a report by The New York Post, Biden spent all or part of 382 days of his first 957 days in office on personal overnight trips, making him the most idle commander-in-chief in U.S. history. This 40% out-of-office ratio surpasses former President Donald Trump, who spent 26% of his presidency on personal trips.
In contrast, Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama took vacations for just 11% of their two-term presidencies, while Jimmy Carter took off for 79 days, equating to 5% of his single term in office.
Calls for more time off
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis suggested that Biden might actually do Americans a favor by taking more time off. “We probably would have been better off if he did even less and went on vacation more,” she stated. Malliotakis criticized Biden’s policies, saying, “Sadly, he repealed President Trump’s border policies, lifted sanctions on Iran that enriched them, and implemented anti-energy policies that drove up the cost gas, food and utility bills. If he just left things alone, things would be better.”
White House response
White House spokesman Andrew Bates defended the president, stating, “It’s not a surprise that the same geniuses who attack President Biden for petting hero dogs and liking ice cream can’t count, but he has taken fewer vacation days than the modern average for presidents and works hard every day, wherever he is.”
As the debate over Biden’s vacation days continues, it remains to be seen how this will impact public perception of his presidency.
