The Pentagon is going to study UFO sightings in restricted US airspace

Defense officials in the US announced the Pentagon’s interest in studying UFO sightings in their restricted airspace. Here’s all about the project and the task force set to investigate the UFOs.

US Defense officials stated that the task force will be assisting the Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) of interest. According to them, this is for mitigating threats associated with the objects of intérêts, additionally a highly anticipated military report from June 2021 failed in explaining several reported UFO sightings. It also warned of several possible national security risks. The new group will be under the watch of top intelligence and military leaders.

The group is known as the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group. The group will “detect, identify and attribute objects of interest in [special use airspace],” stated Kathleen Hicks, in a memo to the senior leadership of Pentagon. Hicks is the Deputy Defense Secretary. According to the US Defense department, aerial incursions from both identified and unidentified are taken “very seriously and investigated”.

Thursday’s statement also acknowledges the challenges and highlighted a Pentagon report to Congress in June 2021. Back then, lawmakers had demanded reports after numerous UFO sightings were made by the military. They reported several instances of UFOs moving erratically. Since 2004, a total of 144 reports have been made about it. Out of them, one object with an erratic movement was deemed to be a “large, deflating balloon”. The Pentagon said there were “no clear indications” of alien activity but did not rule out the possibility. However, several possible explanations including invasions from Russia and China were offered.
