Texas Woman receives "creepiest" text at airport after man spotted her phone number on luggage tag

In a viral TikTok video, a woman named Kirsten shared a chilling experience she had during a layover at the airport. The New York Post reported that while waiting for her next flight, Texas resident Kirsten received an unsettling text message from a stranger who obtained her phone number by reading her luggage tag

Unwelcome text message

“I’m at the airport, and the creepiest thing just happened to me,” Kirsten said in the video. “I’m sitting there on my layover, and I get this text.” She then revealed a screenshot of the message: “Hi Kristen” (despite her name being Kirsten), “My name is Nate. I saw you and thought you were so beautiful, so I had to find a way to talk to you. I saw your number on your luggage tag and decided to text you. I promise this isn’t as weird as it seems! Give a guy a chance?”

Kirsten expressed her discomfort and disbelief, noting the invasive nature of the interaction. “Give a guy a chance? First of all, he spelled my name wrong. Secondly, if he really wanted to talk to me, why didn’t he just approach me like a normal person? This feels like such an invasion of privacy. I have no idea who this guy is, and I didn’t even notice anyone looking at me.”

Concerns over personal safety at Airport

What made the situation even more troubling for Kirsten was the fact that her address was also on the luggage tag. “What’s even more unsettling is that my address is on my luggage tag, so now he could possibly know where I live,” she said. Kirsten concluded her video with a piece of advice for her followers: “PSA to everyone out there: Turn your luggage tag inside out so that your personal information isn’t visible.” She had a direct message to those who engage in such invasive behavior: “And PSA to all creepers: do better.”

Social media reaction

The video quickly gained traction on TikTok, sparking a wave of reactions from viewers. Many users expressed shock and horror at the stranger’s actions. One commenter wrote, “My jaw literally dropped. I’m horrified.” Another added, “This is something that would never even cross my mind!!! That’s so scary.”

Other users shared their own unsettling experiences, while some offered practical tips to protect personal information while traveling. One user advised, “Luggage tags with covers only,” while another noted, “My luggage tag says ‘info on the back’ for this very reason.” Kirsten’s story serves as a sobering reminder of how seemingly minor details, such as luggage tags, can lead to serious breaches of privacy and personal safety. Travelers are urged to take precautions to safeguard their information while on the move.
