Every year, the Uber lost and found index provides insight into the most common and unusual items lost by us. It also shows the cities with the most forgetful people and the days and times when people lose their belongings. Uber just revealed their fifth yearly Lost & Found index and, they are as surprising as ever!
The top 10 most commonly forgotten items in an Uber are:
- Water bottle
- Phone
- Identity cards
- Camera
- E-cigarettes or Vape
- Wallet
- Glasses
- keys
- Headphones
- Luggage or backpacks
On a more surprising note, here are ten unique things that riders lost
- A large painting of Kate Middleton and a small painting of the grim reaper
- A tooth (turns out that the rider had it in their pocket)
- A cooler full of fish
- Rabbit legs
- Catheter
- Wig brush (A surprising item to be found in the trunk!)
- Raw chicken and 20 pounds of salt
- A toilet seat and welcome door sign shaped like a lemon with a blue ribbon on it
- A green dinosaur Halloween costume and a knife that is needed for the job (shivers in fear)
- A rolled-up poster that is held with an elastic band. It says “end this bummer” with endless summer artwork.
Uber knows your habits!
The Uber survey also showed some insight into human forgetfulness. People tend to be more forgetful on Fridays and Saturdays. They were also forgetful at 8 pm, 11 pm, and midnight. (voiceoverherald.com) Seems like riders were either hungry, sleepy, or hungover! Some of the most forgetful holidays include Halloween and New Years’.
It turns out that we are more likely to forget bags and groceries on Mondays, cameras on Tuesdays, and cash on Wednesday. Sundays were the most common day to lose phones!

The priciest things lost and found in an Uber include riders leaving behind more than $60,000 in cash! About 17 riders left-back bills worth more than $1,000. Similarly, among the list of most expensive things left behind, they found that riders lost Gucci products five times more than YSL or Chanel products. Also, Apple users lost their devices nine times more than Samsung users. Just make sure that you keep an eye on your phones, especially on Sundays!
As the vaccine becomes more accessible, people around the world are going to slowly get back to normal. We are sure that there will be much more interesting items on next year’s lost and found once the summer rolls around.
