A Singaporean man named K Kawshigan filed a lawsuit against a lady for $2.26 million in damages after she claimed she only saw him as a friend. K Kawshigan alleged that Nora Tan’s actions traumatised him and destroyed his “excellent reputation.”
According to court documents, he has sought compensation to cover loss in earnings and investments, as well as “rehabilitation and therapy programs to overcome the sustained trauma”. Moreover, he has accused Tan of “allegedly defamatory remarks and negligent conduct”, the Metro newspaper reported.
Tan met Kawshigan in 2016, and problems began to arise in 2020 when they became “misaligned”
On February 9, the defamation action filed by Kawshigan, a director at a drone firm, will be heard. According to sources, he originally brought a $16,624 complaint against Tan in a magistrates court in January, alleging that she had broken a promise to mend their relationship. According to the verdict, Kawshigan’s “ulterior aim” was to annoy or torment the defendant, and the case was only a “calculated attempt to induce engagement” from Tan.
Tan met Kawshigan in 2016, and problems began to arise in 2020 when they became “misaligned” about how they saw their relationship.“While the defendant only regarded the claimant as a ‘friend’, he considered her to be his ‘closest friend’,” the court papers said. According to the judgment, the woman sought their interactions to be reduced, which caused displeasure to the claimant, who felt this would constitute “taking a step back in their relationship”.
She stressed the importance of limits and exhorted him to be “self-reliant.” The man filed the most recent case in July 2022 and is seeking compensation “for allegedly defamatory words and negligent conduct” in it.
