All you need to know about the leaked Pentagon files

One of the papers among the leaked Pentagon files titled “Top Secret,” indicates that Valery Gerasimov and Nikolay Patrushev “devised” a plan for sabotaging Putin while he undergoes medical procedures. Gerasimov is the Russian Chief of General Staff and Patrushev is the Secretary of the Russian National Security Council. “Russia planned to divert resources from Taganrog, Russia to Mariupol, Ukraine, and focus its attention on the southern front. According to [redacted] source, the plan for “the offensive” (no further information) was suspected to be a strategy devised by [Mr. Gerasimov and Mr. Patrushev] to sabotage Putin,” reveals the document.

However, these ‘Top Secret” papers do not specify the medical condition that Putin is suffering from. However, they state it requires chemotherapy. The name of the source is redacted. And it claims the information is from unidentified Russian sources with access to Kremlin officials. However, the rumors in the leaked Pentagon files are not confirmed. According to a Vice report, the abbreviations on top of the documents indicate they are only for the eyes of people with top-secret security clearance in the US and other Five Eyes nations. Five Eyes is an intelligence cooperation between the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

More on the documents

The files are part of a greater leak released last week on several social media platforms. It first took place on Discord where an individual shared images of top-secret documents containing information on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Additionally, it also contained leaked documents on other nations like China and South Korea. While the origin of the documents is unclear, federal investigators on Thursday captured a 21-year-old national guardsman. As per a report by The New York Times, the leak was posted to a Discord group. The group members are “mostly young men and teenagers” speaking about their “shared loved of guns, racist online memes, and video games.” While this is not the first instance, the recent leak is alarming the US as some documents are less than 50 days old.
