Prince Harry’s fight with anxiety
No one is perfect. Prince Harry described his difficult 20s and 30s where he battled severe anxiety. He admitted to taking drugs and alcohol to fight his anxiety while trying his best to hide it.
“I was willing to drink, willing to take drugs, I was willing to do the things that made me feel less like I was feeling. But I slowly became aware that, okay, I wasn’t drinking Monday to Friday but, I would probably drink a week’s worth in one day on a Friday or a Saturday night. And I was finding myself drinking not because I was enjoying it, but because I was trying to mask something.” he shared with Winfrey.

Prince Harry lost his mother at the young age of 12. He recalled his feelings when he got to know his mother, Princess of Wales’s death. “It was like I was outside of my body and just walking along, doing what was expected of me, showing one-tenth of the emotion that everybody else was showing,” he said in the docu-series.

Despite thinking about counseling in his earlier years, he was not “in an environment where it was encouraged to talk about it either,” he stated. When asked why he took up therapy, “The past. To heal me from the past.” he said. After all, the reason one chooses to heal is what is important.
