OceanGate still advertising trips to the Titanic shipwreck

According to the Independent, nearly ten days after the Titanic submersible imploded, killing all five passengers on its way to the debris, the firm that operated the sub, OceanGate, is still offering journeys to the Titanic shipwreck on its website.

The underwater exploration organization is planning two excursions to the Titanic next year, from June 12 to June 20 and June 21 to June 29, for a total cost of $250,000. The price includes one submersible dive, private lodging, all required training, expedition equipment, and all meals while on board.

The company stated that the passengers will arrive in the beach city of St. John’s on the first day to meet their adventure crew and board the vessel. “(It) will take you to the wreck of the RMS Titanic. You’ll familiarize yourself with life on a working vessel as we begin the 400-nautical-mile journey to the wreck site.”

OceanGate placed a job opportunity for a sub-pilot position on its website during the search for the missing sub

According to the outlet, the company had closed these expeditions “indefinitely” after its CEO Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, French diving expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his teenage son Suleman were killed when the firm’s sub imploded while on its way to the Titanic wreckage.

According to the Independent, the organization placed a job opportunity for a sub-pilot position on its website during the search for the missing sub. It was eventually removed after the company received widespread criticism.

According to the US Coast Guard, experts recently retrieved supposed human remains from the Titan sub. The small submersible’s mangled debris was offloaded in eastern Canada, bringing a conclusion to a laborious search-and-recovery operation.

A debris field was discovered on the seafloor 1,600 feet from the Titanic’s bow, which is more than two miles (almost four kilometers) below the ocean’s surface and 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland.
