Last week the state media was promoting and encouraging black swan breeding. As it serves as a viable source of protein. “Black swan meat is delicious and has medicinal value,” the ruling party’s Rodong Sinmun newspaper informs. A UN investigator revealed earlier this month that 40 percent of North Koreans were food insecure before the outbreak, adding that strong sanctions implemented over the last two years have put the country at risk of starving.

The paper discusses travel restrictions between cities, border closures, and limited imports of non-essential commodities. Consequently having an impact on the country’s food supply system. A spy agency informs, the country is taking steps to reopen its borders with China and Russia in the coming months. UN agencies say there are indications about the country receiving humanitarian aid from China. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recognises the “severe” food situation earlier this month.
